ABB CP-S Range Power Supplies

ABB’s latest generation of CP-S power supplies is designed specifically for machine building applications, delivering high efficiency, dependable performance and a compact footprint. The range incorporates an integrated 150% power reserve for up to five seconds and achieves efficiency levels of up to 94%.

These units are equipped with overheat protection and active power factor correction, alongside a wide AC and DC input voltage range and comprehensive global approvals.

The CP-S.3 series is particularly suited to professional three-phase AC applications. UL listing and marine approvals further enhance the versatility of the range.

All CP-S power supplies provide a rated 24 V DC output voltage, adjustable via the front-mounted “OUTPUT Adjust” rotary potentiometer. Models are available with rated output currents of 3.0 A, 5.0 A, 10 A, 20 A and 40 A, covering a power range from 72 W to 960 W. With efficiency of up to 94%, they offer low power dissipation and reduced heat generation.

Cooling is achieved through free convection, eliminating the need for forced ventilation. The units operate within an ambient temperature range of –25 °C to +60 °C without derating, and up to +70 °C with derating. They are open-circuit, overload and short-circuit stable, and include an integrated input fuse for additional protection.

For critical applications requiring true redundancy, optional CP-C.1-A-RU redundancy units are available as accessories. Operational status is indicated by a front-mounted LED, and an “OUTPUT OK” relay contact (13–14) provides output signalling.
