LOVATO Electric has broadened its portfolio of safety devices with the introduction of the new BFS series contactors, specifically designed to comply with ISO 13849-1 (Safety of machinery – Safety-related parts of control systems) and IEC/EN 62061 (Safety of machinery – Functional safety of safety-related control systems).

The BFS range includes three-pole contactors with rated motor currents from 9 to 38A AC-3 at 400V. These are available with coil voltages of 24VAC, 110VAC, 230VAC, or 24VDC to suit various application needs.

Models up to 25A feature 2NO+3NC auxiliary contacts, while higher current models include 2NO+2NC configurations.

BFS contactors meet the stringent requirements for:

• Mirror Contacts (IEC/EN 60947-4-1), ensuring that the NC auxiliary contact cannot close simultaneously with the NO main contact, even in the event of a fault such as contact welding.

• Mechanically Linked Contacts (IEC/EN 60947-5-1), preventing simultaneous closure of NO and NC auxiliary contacts under fault conditions.

In addition to these safety features, the BFS contactors offer several enhancements over conventional designs:

• Integrated auxiliary contact block (non-removable) to prevent tampering

• Protective guards to block manual or tool-assisted operation

• Distinctive yellow auxiliary contact block cover for easy identification within safety circuits

• Clear contactor status visibility through a front inspection window

These robust features ensure high reliability, making the BFS series an ideal choice for safety-critical applications.
