Performance ratings have also been improved across the range, particularly for motor applications, with selected ratings suitable for applications up to 800V AC. Overload and short-circuit protection can be achieved using standard fuses, or through MCBs and MCCBs where more advanced protection is required.
OT Plus features a true fourth-pole design, preventing the interruption of the neutral conductor and helping to reduce the risk of electrical faults. Fourth-pole timing is adjustable, with options for simultaneous operation or early-make/late-break switching to provide additional protection for sensitive equipment. Mechanical endurance has been improved, with a lifespan up to ten times longer than the original OT series.
OT Plus retains the same footprint as the original OT range, including unit widths and mounting holes. This allows existing G1 and G2 frames to be replaced without the need for redesign. The G3 frame features optimised mounting points to meet UL98 requirements and improve visibility. Where existing mounting holes need to be reused, a retrofit adaptor plate (RFB-G3) is available. Existing shafts and external handles can be used across all frame sizes. Screw terminals are supplied as standard, while the G1 frame is also available with Quick-Spring terminals for faster installation. To make installation even easier, key technical data, including wire stripping length and tightening torque, is laser-printed directly on each unit. Every switch features a QR code, providing instant access to technical information, 2D/3D drawings and certification documents via a smartphone or tablet.
The accessory range has been designed with simplicity and flexibility in mind. A single auxiliary contact block fits all frame sizes, combining 1NO or 1NC contacts in one unit. It is easy to install and remove, and meets the requirements for motor and safety switches. Up to 2+2 contact blocks can be fitted, providing a maximum of 4NO and 4NC. Optional terminal shrouds help prevent direct contact with terminals, while fixed neutral and PE terminals offer safer and more flexible mounting.
The redesigned operating handle has a square-shaped mounting hole, allowing installation at 0°, 90°, 180°, or 270° without the need for special shafts or additional accessories, making installation four times easier. The handle can be padlocked for additional security, and supports shaft mounting for external operation. A black handle is supplied as standard, with a red option available where required by local regulations.
OT Plus also lowers running costs and environmental impact. Power losses are reduced by up to 53% compared with the original OT series, and by 31% on average. This helps lower energy consumption and reduce carbon footprint. The range has a recyclability rate of up to 94%, with end-of-life instructions embedded in the product to support responsible disposal. OT Plus is also part of the ABB EcoSolutions offering.
